A perfect family holiday has to have something for all members of the family to enjoy, lots of moments together and memories guaranteed to outlive those blissful days in the sun. We are here with all the help and advice you need to plan that perfect and much-needed time away with your loved ones.  

With an array of fantastic destinations with first-class resorts, you are well and truly spoilt for choice on where is good for everyone to enjoy. Providing much needed relaxation for adults along with activities to benefit children in a safe and secure environment, we know all the best spots as we have been very fortunate to try a few of them ourselves.  

If over the last few years, you have exhausted many options available within the UK, it is exciting to know that this summer you can venture further out and discover something new altogether. Whether that be re-acquainting yourself with your favourite European destination, indulge in al fresco dining, getting active in the fresh air or water or even perhaps a long-haul destination may be on the agenda? With the return stress-free travel, here are a number of our favourite destinations providing you with a truly memorable family escape in the sun this summer.  

GREECE

Stretching into the Aegean and Ionian paradise waters, Greece and its stunning islands are the perfect place for your next family holiday. Whilst the Greek coastline offers endless mind-blowing views, inland is filled with olive groves and rustic architecture, making the ideal setting for a family adventure. Whether you decide to rent a private villa or staying at an all-inclusive to manage your spending, you will be guaranteed fun for the entire family.  

With many child-friendly resorts with kid’s clubs, sports centres, eco playgrounds and climbing walls, Greece promises to keep children both young and old fully occupied whilst you sit back and relax. With many fantastic beach-front hotels in Crete, Corfu and Zakynthos, you have the option to move between the pool, area and the beach without any difficulty. Why not take a day off the beach and join a yacht trip, snorkelling tour or even go on a day trip, encouraging young learners to see just how impressive the ancient Greeks were for themselves.  

Besides excellent accommodation options and resort facilities, Greece never fails to entice visitors with its traditional and authentic charm and summer sun from May all the way through to September, or even sometimes in October! Explore quaint fishing harbours, town squares and farmland or even take a stroll around the shops whilst the kids devour an ice cream and try out local tavernas. With so many Greek islands, you could certainly go back again and again and always find somewhere new to explore! 

SPAIN

Welcoming millions of visitors every year, mainland Spain and its island havens including the Balearics and the Canary Islands certainly spoilt you for choice with an array of family-friendly hotels, apartments and villas packed with wonderful amenities for both children and adults. Why not spend time at the pool area with a book whilst the children have fun playing in the water, making friends or even check in for a day in the spa whilst they are having a fantastic time in the kid's club.  

For those who are keener on hiring a private villa, you will certainly be able to find both traditional and modern family villas in idyllic settings, boasting private pools and shady outside space for al fresco dining, reading and even playing games. Private villas are usually equipped with air-conditioning and all the mod-cons necessary to keep in touch with loved ones or surf the net when you need a break from the heat.  

If you are a family who might struggle to get your children away from the pool, you will be delighted to know that there are some superb water parks for a family filled fun day out along with many other activities that you can enjoy as a family, from paddle boarding and cycling tours to historical places of interest including Roman ruins, medieval churches, museums and art galleries.  

If you do a bit of research beforehand, you may have the benefit of experiencing a local fiesta during your visit. These street parties see all generations coming together, so don’t worry about taking your children as they will love it just as much as you! 

For those who can’t fit in a fiesta will notice that the Spanish are very family-focused, making it possible to dine out with children of all ages and a fun experience. Fresh and tasty food in Greece in Spain is surprisingly low in cost so make sure you sample local, traditional dishes, even if you do opt for an all-inclusive stay.  

THE CARIBBEAN

Family holidays in the Caribbean can be anything you want them to be whether that’s spending quality time together on a blissful, palm-fringed beach, hiking in the jungle on one of many trails or visiting colonial and pre-Colombian places of interest.  

For those with a love of Nature should consider islands such as Tobago and Dominica where the marine life and lush tropical forests will inspire young explorers. Families who prefer resorts will find Jamaica and the Dominican Republic both have fantastic options for them with facilities for both adults and children.  

The Caribbean calm waters, sensational snorkelling and diving spots and reliable winds, make the Caribbean a paradise haven for kite surfers and scuba divers in particular. The clear, shallow waters mixed with regular, gentle winds make conditions safe and the ideal way for children to be introduced to these activities. Whilst the British Virgin Islands and the Caymans are world-known for peace, tranquillity and relaxation, there is plenty of adventure to be had here with the British Virgin Islands perfect for sailing and the Caymans have phenomenal diving opportunities.  

If you want to experience a more authentic and local touch, stay in family-run beachfront hotels or guest houses and hit one of the local spice markets.  

Hiring a car allows you to explore the coast and uncover a variety of beaches from pebbly, volcanic black sand to white powdered sand, with plenty of things to do on and away from the coast. There is so much that you will find it hard fitting everything into one holiday! It goes without saying, the Caribbean really does know how to put on all-inclusive.
