Visit the Mulee’aage Palace

The official residence of the President of the Maldives, this unique building is a dazzling example of dak bungalow architecture. Built in 1919, it used to be the ancestral home of former Sultans and royalty. Its colourful roof and unique design are a postcard-worthy sight to see.

The Isdhoo Old Mosque

The Old Mosque carries great historical significance for the local community, as it is the location where historians unearthed the oldest written records found in the Maldives. The Loamaafaanu is the oldest copper-plate book written in AD 1194 in the Evēla Dhivehi script, an old Dhivehi script that is no longer in use. While not accepting any non-Muslim visitors indoors, the mosque welcomes visitors to admire the fine carvings, lacquer calligraphy and decoration, carved wooden doors and the coral stone exterior.
