Lets Pack Those Bags

Packing is the quiet beginning of every holiday. Before the airport coffee. Before the boarding pass. Before the first glimpse of sea or skyline. Done well, it feels calm. Done badly, it feels rushed, chaotic, and slightly stressful before you’ve even left home. So, here’s how to pack a case properly. Not overpacked and underprepared, but just right.
Start With the Trip, Not the Wardrobe
Think about where you’re going and how you’ll spend your days.
City break? You’ll walk way more than you expect.
Beach escape? You’ll wear fewer outfits than you think.
Resort stays? Evenings matter as much as daytime. Plan outfits around moments not options. One comfortable travel outfit, two or three daytime looks, one or two evening pieces. Layers if needed. Try and think if it doesn’t serve a purpose, it doesn’t go in.

Lay Everything Out - Then Edit
Put it all on the bed. Then remove three items. You won’t miss them. You never do.
The biggest packing mistake isn’t forgetting something, it’s bringing too much. Extra weight means extra decisions and potentially extra cost. Not to mentioned potential pulled muscles dragging a giant case around the airport!
Holidays should feel lighter than home.
Roll, Don’t Stack
Rolling soft items like T-shirts, dresses and swimwear saves space and reduces creasing. Hunting for the iron on day one of a holiday is not the best way to relax.
Structured pieces, like blazers or linen shirts, can be folded once and placed flat. Heavy items (shoes, toiletry bags) go at the base near the wheels. Lighter layers on top. Ever wondered why your case tries to fall forward all the time? Balance matters.
Shoes: Be Realistic
You do not need five pairs. One comfortable walking pair. One beach or pool option. One evening choice. That’s usually enough. You can fill shoes with socks or smaller items to maximise space. Lets face it, you'll probably go with five whatever we suggest :)
Create a Small “First Day” Section
Keep one easy outfit accessible for when you arrive. Especially useful for late check-ins or early morning landings. Swimwear near the top makes sense if you’re heading somewhere warm, nothing beats dipping your hand into the top of your case and heading straight to the pool.
Toiletries & Essentials
Travel-size where possible. Liquids sealed properly (inside small plastic bags can help protect your clothes if the worst happens - the bags can be useful during the holiday too). Keep chargers in one pouch, so your cables don't snake round your stuff like boa constrictors. And always keep your essentials in your hand luggage: Passport. Travel documents. Medication. One spare outfit.
Confidence is knowing you could manage even if your case didn’t arrive.

Leave Space
The best packers never fill their suitcase completely. You’ll buy things on holiday, maybe a new outfit, gifts for loved ones and theres nothing worse than leaving a full bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your room as they are too heavy or don't fit in now you've filled your case with new stuff. A little space means no stress on the return journey.
The Final Zip
Ask yourself: Will I actually wear this? Does this outfit mix with at least one other piece?
Then zip it up. Packing well isn’t about perfection. It’s about organisation. And once it’s done, the holiday already feels closer.
