When to go to Antalya

What it’s really like, month by month
If you’re planning a trip to Antalya, timing matters more than you might think.
On paper, it’s a year-round destination. In reality, it shifts quite a lot through the seasons. The difference between visiting in May and August isn’t subtle - it changes how the whole trip feels.
So rather than just listing temperatures, this is how I’d think about the best time to go to Antalya depending on the kind of holiday you want.
April to June
The sweet spot
This is usually where I’d point most people first.
Temperatures sit comfortably between 20-30°C, everything is open, and the resorts feel alive without being busy. You can spend full days by the pool or beach without the heat becoming too much, and evenings are warm but still comfortable.
If you want a balance of good weather, good value, and a more relaxed feel, this is it.
It’s also a great time for families with younger children. You’re not dealing with peak summer heat, and everything just feels easier.

July and August
Peak summer, in every sense
This is high season.
Temperatures regularly push past 35°C, sometimes higher. Resorts are at their busiest, flights are full, and prices reflect it.
That doesn’t make it bad - it just depends what you’re looking for.
If you want guaranteed heat, long days, and that full summer holiday atmosphere, it delivers. Kids clubs are in full swing, pools are lively, and everything is geared towards peak season.
But if you struggle with heat, or prefer a quieter experience, this is where I’d think twice.
September to October
Underrated, and often better
This is one of my favourite times to go.
The heat softens slightly, sitting around the mid to high 20s, but the sea is still warm from the summer. Crowds start to thin, and the whole place feels more relaxed.
If you want warmth without intensity, this is ideal. It’s especially good for couples or anyone looking for a slower-paced trip.
You still get everything you’d expect from Antalya, just with a bit more space.

November to March
Quieter, cooler, and different
This is off-season, and it feels like it.
Temperatures drop to around 10-18°C. Some resorts close or reduce services, especially the more seasonal, all-inclusive ones.
That said, it’s not without appeal.
If you’re interested in exploring, walking, or just seeing a different side of Antalya, it can work well. Kaleiçi (the old town) in particular has a quieter, more local feel during winter.
So, when is the best time to go?
The best time to visit Antalya really comes down to what you want:
- For families → April to June or late September
- For guaranteed heat → July and August
- For couples / quieter trips → May, June, or September
- For value and fewer crowds → April or October
If I had to choose one window overall, I’d say May or September. You get the weather, the atmosphere, and the space — without the intensity of peak summer.
But if your priority is pool, beach, and full resort experience, this isn’t the time I’d recommend.
Where this fits into your trip
Timing is one part of it. Where you stay is the other.
